Technology Made Tangible

Students are introduced to the profession of crane operator during the Engineering Expedition

Today we are participating in an edition of Techniek Expeditie. During this engineering day, high school students had the opportunity to experience firsthand just how versatile and interesting a future in engineering can be. The event brings schools, companies, and students together to make engineering literally tangible through interactive activities.

For our contribution to this event, we brought along our City Class crane. This allowed students to take a seat in the cab and get a taste of what it’s like to be a crane operator. Under the guidance of an experienced operator, they received instructions and got right to work. The task was simple but challenging: hoist a tire, move it carefully, and then lower it neatly into a container two meters away.

For many students, this was the first time they had operated a crane themselves. Not only did it generate a lot of enthusiasm, but it also provided a realistic picture of the precision, technical skills, and responsibility involved in the profession of a crane operator.

Through our participation in Techniek Expeditie, we aim to show young people just how exciting and diverse the technical sector is. By experiencing technology firsthand, students discover all the possibilities within this field and the opportunities the future holds.

We look back on a successful day and hope that this experience has inspired some students to pursue a career in engineering. After all, the future of engineering begins with today’s curiosity.
