Despite the harsh spring weather, construction is brisk to reduce the Dutch housing shortage.
The Netherlands is now more than 330,000 homes short and, in addition, many people are at risk of finding their own home unaffordable.
An entire generation may lose connection to the housing market as a result. The quality of life in a number of neighborhoods is deteriorating and the sustainability of residential areas is not getting off the ground quickly enough.

Our cabinet wants to build 100,000 housing units per year as soon as possible. These homes should be built primarily for first-time buyers, seniors and middle-income earners. At least two-thirds of the homes should be affordable rental and owner-occupied housing.

We are extremely proud to do our part across the country against the acute housing shortage.
